Supertech M10
The all-new Supertech M10 helmet is the result of over five years of intensive research, development and testing. Building on Alpinestars' five decades of protective development, we have examined every possible aspect to construct a helmet that is safer and more sophisticated than any other.
CARBON SHELL
3K high-density carbon outer layer that improves the strength and efficiency of energy dispersion across the shell. UD carbon composite layer that provides significantly greater radial strength around the shell, preventing compression but allowing controlled deflection to reduce transmitted impact energy. Aramid fibre layer that provides critical penetration protection.
This three-layer composite combination achieves even greater performance with an epoxy resin bond that provides the best possible strength and energy management.
The combination of material layers provides improved energy management: limited outer shell deflection, which makes the energy wider and better absorbed by the EPS liner.
The result of the unique shell lay-up process used in the M10 construction results in extremely effective impact protection. With a fully equipped helmet testing facility at the Alpinestars Racing Development Centre, an exhaustive impact research programme has resulted in Supertech returning to linear and oblique impact performance that far exceeds current helmet regulation standards. For direct, linear impact with an average size of 41% and for rotational acceleration, oblique, impact performance with an average of 48%.
4 DIFFERENT HARDNESSES EPS LINER
THE RIGHT DENSITY IN THE RIGHT AREA
The energy-absorbing layer, formed with a multi-density EPS polymer, provides an inner helmet profile that absorbs impact forces spread across the outer shell at the point of impact and provides a shape that offers a snug and comfortable fit.
The energy absorption performance of the M10 is significantly improved by a four-section construction that allows specific densities of polymer to be prepared for different zones around the helmet lining. Not only is energy performance improved, but so are fit and comfort.
EACH HEAD SIZE HAS A DEDICATED SHELL AND EPS DIMENSION
The Supertech shell construction is optimised to offer the best fit across the range of four size options. Shell sizes are manufactured in small, medium, large and extra-large to ensure riders have the correct fit, which not only improves comfort but, most importantly, the effectiveness of the helmet in a collision.
The Supertech M10 liner construction is combined with the shell to offer highly effective impact energy management.
LIGHTWEIGHT CONSTRUCTION
MEDIUM SIZE WEIGHS 1240 g (ECE) 134And (POINT)
Weight is a factor in both the riding characteristics and safety of a helmet, and to ensure that the M-10 offers the ultimate in weight-saving performance enhancement, the preparation and construction of the helmet has been thoroughly analysed for weight-to-strength and energy-absorbing properties, and a rigorous analysis of all the components used in the Supertech finish.
The weight of the M-10 is 1260g for size Medium (ECE) For DOT: 1370g for size Medium
A-HEAD FITMENT SYSTEM
PATENTED SYSTEM PROVIDES ULTIMATE ADJUSTABILITY
The Supertech M-10 incorporates a patented system that allows the helmet to be adjusted precisely to the rider's preference for the height and angle at which the helmet sits on the head. This unique technology allows for an ultra-specific set-up that can be adjusted to the rider's preference.
With a micro-adjustable pad connected to the helmet's inner shell, it is possible to raise or lower the helmet's fit and also tilt the helmet forward or backward.
PATENTED VISOR RELEASE SYSTEM
Alpinestars has developed a unique visor release system that, while ensuring that the visor is held securely in place for riding over the most extreme terrain and all track conditions, provides just the right level of resistance to ensure that the visor detaches from the helmet if it is subjected to significant impact - regardless of the angle.
The M10 visor release mechanism is designed to avoid the weaknesses of other types of anchoring systems. Maintaining the integrity of the shell is critical to safety, and with the possibility of forces in multiple directions affecting the visor, separation at the critical load point reduces potentially harmful leverage and rotational accelerations that refer to damage to the rider's neck and spine.
PROTECTIVE DESIGN
The base of the M-10 is shaped to provide a shock absorber, with the bottom profile raised to protect the collarbone. Also incorporated into the area of the base where it sits above the rider's collarbone is an energy-absorbing cushion; a more flexible composite rubber section that allows deflection when it comes into contact with the collarbone.
The Supertech M10 chest bar is moulded with polypropylene, which, by allowing some lateral deflection, further improves impact protection for the collarbone.
ULTRA-VENTILATED DESIGN
VISOR DIRECTS AIR INTO PORTS FOR INCREASED BREATHABILITY
Heat tests have resulted in specially designed channeling that produces a flow into the helmet above and around the rider's head, improving comfort while riding and reducing the onset of heat stress in extreme conditions.
The visor design on the M10 is also an integral part of the ventilation system, as it is profiled to direct airflow and acts as a channel to concentrate and equalise the flow into the shell. The Supertech liner design is formed to optimise the channelling of airflow around the rider's head before it is extracted from the M10 through rear exhaust vents to ensure that positive pressure is maintained with constant airflow while riding.
MIPS - MULTI-DIRECTIONAL IMPACT PROTECTION SYSTEM
EXCLUSIVE MULTI-PIECE MIPS® SYSTEM REDUCES ROTATIONAL IMPACT FORCES
A low-friction "slip" layer is built into the Supertech helmet between the comfort padding layer and the multi-density polymer energy-absorbing shell. When energy impacts the helmet, causing a rotational force, the MIPS layer allows movement of the inner absorption layer to dampen and redirect the energy before it causes significant acceleration stress to the brain. This mitigates the causes of brain injuries, such as concussions.
ERS EMERGENCY RELEASE SYSTEM
SAFELY AND EASILY REMOVE CHEEKPADS WHILE THE HELMET IS STILL ON
The side cheek pads on the Supertech can be effectively and safely removed while the helmet is still on the rider's head, allowing for easy removal by track and medical personnel.
ACCESSORIES INCLUDED
SPARE VISOR AND HELMET BAG
In accordance with both DOT certification and ECE homologation, the M10 is certified for use worldwide. The DOT 218 standard prescribes specific protection against impact penetration above the top of the helmet area, and therefore the Supertech M10 for the American and Canadian markets will feature technology that significantly exceeds the minimum safety requirements.
